Timothy Murray - Bassoon
Timothy Murray has held the position of Principal Contrabassoon with Orchestra Victoria since 2015. He studied bassoon at the Conservatorium High School and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Andrew Barnes. During this time he received a Big Brother Travelling Scholarship, allowing him to study overseas. He was awarded a Sydney Symphony Fellowship in 2014 and toured to China with the orchestra. In the same year, he won the Sydney Conservatorium Concerto Competition, performing as soloist with the Conservatorium Orchestra.
In 2016, he received a grant for postgraduate study from the Ian Potter Foundation and has since completed a Masters degree at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater un Medien Hannover, studying bassoon with Bence Boganyi and contrabassoon with Florian Raß. Timothy has participated in masterclasses with Gustavo Nunez, Joost Bosdjik, Peter Whelan and Malte Refardt. He has performed with the Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras as well as the Opera Australia Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and Staatsorchester Kassel.
